So, I had a moment tonight that was a first for me. Of course, when we put Zoey down for the night she gets out of bed and hangs out by her bedroom door for a little while before she goes completely quiet. I've gone back to checking on her before I, myself, go to sleep and she's been fast asleep on her bed.
Tonight, though, when I slowly opened her door I was met with some resistance. I noticed her Nala (aka, her BFF) was blocking the door, which meant she was there too. Alas, when I got the door open enough I could see a very empty toddler bed. So, I snuck my hand through the barely opened door to move Nala out of the way, then I slid my hand under the bottom of the door where I could feel Zoey's back and tried to nudge her gently awake. It worked, she was only a little bit mad, but she almost immediately wanted me to pick her up in her half-asleep state. So, I tucked her back into bed with her blanket and bff and she fell back asleep.
Even though she's a terror about 80% of the time, it's times like this one when I'm reminded that I really do have a very sweet child.
